When Maya Moore played for Collins Hill High in Georgia, she wore No. 32. And she wore it with distinction as the nation's consensus national player of the year as a junior and senior.
When she arrived at UConn she discovered No. 32 was already taken by soon-to-be junior Kalana Greene. Greene naturally wanted to keep it because players become attached to their numbers as if they were family members.
Moore took No. 23, the number worn by Michael Jordan and LeBron James when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Big shoes to fill for any basketball player, even one with Moore's potential.
